I took a couple of lessons from Max (and will be buying more), and the thing that stands out with his style is his betting pattern recognition. He also showed me when to put pressure on opponents in situations where boards were very representable, and he advocated tight preflop play.. During the lesson, he illustrated quick analysis on some interesting situations, and how dynamics can change from heads up versus multiway pots as well as usage of position and the powerful checkraise.

After the sweat session, we went over key hands where we went over in detail his thinking and analyis.

To be a good poker player, you cant be a robot, you have to think deeply regarding playing styles, hand ranges, and image. No limit is an Art more than a science, and I think the value is he teaches you how to think and guides you into developing a better decision making process.

I was coached by max in november. We did 3 sessions and at the time i was in the middle of my biggest downswing so far (30bi if i remember right, some tilt ldo). He brought confidence back in my game which was very needed at the time and with few tweaks i become quite decent winner at nl200.

I had about 5-6 lessons with Max, his service was extremely helpful and VERY refreshing for my game.

He helped me realise a ton of ways I can improve. You will get alot of insight and guidance, how and why to think deeply / outside of the box etc.

He is the only coach I have ever 'tipped' :)

A few months back I took four one hour lessons with Max. I will just include some pertinent details.

1. He doesn't clockwatch. The hour sessions were all longer than one hour.

2. Teamviewer is free and works very well.

3. Max is patient and articulates his points well.

4. He is trustworthy. I transfered $300 on PS and he immediately transferred the money to my Cake account.

5. Results? I played NL$100-200 Full Ring on Cake Poker for a couple of months and pushed my account up to $1200. I haven't played much in the last couple of months so it is possible that I just went on a heater but I honestly don't think so.

6. Confidence. I primarily played limit poker prior to seeking out Max for training. I feel much more comfortable at the nolimit tables after the sessions with him. He is able to communicate concepts easily without making them unnecessaryly complex and ambiguous like some of the online teaching sites.

Seriously, I recommend you consider Max if you are looking for a coach.

5 lesson from Max here. He was good at listening to my thoughts and concerns during our lessons and I definitely found that he could provide some seriously good advice on making the jump from SSNL to MSNL. As others said, he was very professional, didn't get worked up about whether our lesson was a little long or not. Lessons were always very focused and would work towards accomplishing 1 goal for the day. Our 5 lessons went something like 1 sweat session where he watched me play, 1 session of him reviewing a video I made, a stats/pt session, a session where he commented 20 pre-selected hands that I brought to him that I thought were interesting or got confused, and a final session where we both watched each other play for a while.

Further, I think that his analysis of hands was pretty damned advanced compared to a lot of the MSNL gospel at the time. He wasn't so much concerned with finding out exactly what play was the best, but looking analytically at all the possible outcomes of a hand. He has great hand reading ability combined with a very very solid understanding of the math behind the game. I highly respect his approach to the game and will definitely seek out his advice in the future.
