The only constant in my coaching sessions is that they are governed by what the student wants.
That being said there are quite a few popular ways to conduct sessions which I'll briefly talk about:
Skype Sweat This is the most popular method of coaching and works by the student and myself talking over Skype while I watch them play a few tables (usually 2-4). You would then tell me your hole cards as you play, or we would use a program such as Teamviewer so that I could see your screen, and I would then be able to give advice on hands and comment on your play. This method is successful as it allows me to find leaks in your game that you may not even have been aware of and it is also useful as an introductiory session as it will let me get an idea of your overall game. A slight twist to this type of session is where the student would watch me play and I would explain my thought processes to them. This allows them to hear how I think and ask question on my play, etc.
Video Review A video review is where the student creates a video of themselves playing a 1-hour long session with an audio recording of their thought processes throughout each hand. I then look over the video and compile a list of my own thoughts on any hand that the student may have had trouble on, as well as on their overall play and anything else I may have picked up. We then spend some time on Skype or AIM/MSN discussing the notes that I made in more depth. I've had nothing but positive feedback from students who have attempted this method of coaching with me.
Hand History Review This type of session involves the student saving a number of hand histories prior to the session (15-20 is usually sufficient for a one hour session) and then us going through them together. I then give my thoughts on each hand and go into more depth than might be possible during a Skype Sweat session. This is a particularly beneficial method for the more advanced students who have a very good understanding of how to play a solid game and would like help in more specific spots.
I am also willing to do live coaching sessions at an extra cost depending on where the student is located - contact me for more info on this. |
